Past Truths For Future Victories

I have been on a journey with the Lord to better understand what abiding IN Him actually looks like in the New Era. God has been amazing these past seasons, making up the former era, but He has already unlocked the doors into the New Era for Aglow. I would like to share some of the nuggets the Lord has been speaking to me about entering the New Era with a new freshness and vitality for the challenging victories ahead. Whenever entering a new time or challenge, don’t forget there are some things from past that need to be hooked, brought into the present, and applied to gain victories over the bigger giants before us.
David-Strategies: Victorious Outcomes
In 2017, at our 50th Year Jubilee Conference, Dutch Sheets spoke about the importance of bringing some critical tools into the future with us, using the story of David and Goliath. In this amazing message, Dutch spoke about David’s approach in defeating the enemy. These practical truths are eternal truths we can use to determine the victories awaiting us. Looking at 1 Samuel 17, these powerful insights open our eyes and give us wisdom and courage for the moments ahead.
Five Insight Strategies to Defeat Your Enemy
- Identify your enemy as the one who has no covenant relationship with Almighty God. Remember, David never referred to the giant by name…only “uncircumcised Philistine.” We begin by setting ground rules of covenant promise and relationship, shaking the ground of reality with the foundation of covenant truth. Tell the enemy he is NOT in covenant relationship with God, but we are, and this will determine the outcome of this fight. We are in covenant relationship with our Father, and the enemy is not. Simply said. Aptly put.
Round One: Team God!
- Understand the location of the fight. The giant stands upon the ground that belongs to us. The battle with the giant was in the Valley of Elah in Sochoh, which was part of Judah…the territory belonging to God’s people. The enemy trespasses upon God’s territory, and that should ignite something within us. The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof. We have the rights and privileges of the location of each battle. Letting the enemy know that WE know he is violating the territory brings it out of the shadows. The enemy hates that because he knows we know.
Round Two: Team God!
- We bring our history with God into the fray. David reached for his “staff,” which is like a diary of carved history of the overcoming testimonies of the Lord he experienced. David killed the bear and the lion, and “this “uncircumcised Philistine '” will just be like one of those.” Revelation 12:11… “And they overcame him (the enemy) by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.” When the enemy realizes that we know who we are in the Lord, he has a major disadvantage. When we bring the past testimonies of victory to the fight, all he sees is the blood of Jesus before him. All he hears are the taunts of Heaven saying, “Here it comes again.” It should also be equally noted the last declaration of that scripture…we are willing to fight to the death to bring glory and honor to His name.
Bam! Round 3 goes to Team God!
- Reach into your inheritance promises of the Lord. When David reached into the “brook” to gather his five stones, he was reaching into his inheritance, meaning “to receive something and be given the authority now to control or distribute it.” This is the meaning of “brook.” It also means, “a stream because the water flows into it, receives it, and now has the ability to channel it.” The promises and inheritance of being a son and daughter of God have a GPS device in the weapon of praise and declaration that will hit the mark with pinpoint accuracy and precision. Our inheritance and promise “channels” the destination of our knockout punch to hit the very mark that will drop the enemy before us. When David said, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you IN the name of the LORD of Hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied…for the battle is the LORD’s and He will give you into OUR hands.” Partnership. Covenant…OUR hands. He wasn’t talking about Israel. David was the only one on the battlefield. He was talking about the undefeated partnership WITH God.
Ding, Ding, Ding…by TKO, Team God!!
- Graham Cooke has said there is no breakthrough without follow-through. David completed this battle with follow-through. He took the time to take the enemy’s sword and take the enemy’s head off at the neck. This wasn’t just a victory. It was a reversal. David’s actions decapitated the rights of the territory from the grip of the enemy, giving them back to the rightful owner: God and His people. As we gain victory, make it a complete victory and take the territory that comes with it. Rededicate it back to the rightful owners.
Those who attended the Jubilee Conference heard this message. But don’t you sense it is in its moment again? A full-circle, higher-level understanding of running into every battle with a pre-determined outcome is available.
For Aglow International, we declare we will not forget our past. We bring the truths, outcomes, and testimonies into our present/future battles. We know the territory is ours, and bring covenant relationship into every challenge, courageously declaring that all rights and privileges of our inheritance are before us. No giant has a right to them, and we are here to take our territory and cut off every remembrance of the evil one from it. This is our heritage in Christ. This is our moment. This is our time!
Can you hear a ding, ding, ding?
