What is Majesty?

Mountain

We have entered the Hebraic month of Elul, August 25-September 22. As I was studying about this month, I came across some interesting characteristics that has birthed this communication to you. Have you noticed that God does this more than we realize…where we find pearls of revelation strategically hidden along our path of adventure? Proverbs 16:9 says “A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.” Often times, my heart takes me in a direction and I follow that way, but somewhere in the adventure, the Lord directs my attention to valuable intel He has just for me. This is one of those times.

Elul is a month of repentance, mercy, forgiveness…a time to fix what has been broken…a time to get our spiritual house in order, and a month to put our hand to the plow. It is a special time where the King is in the field, and it is strategic time leading up to the new Hebraic year 5786 beginning September 22.

I asked the Lord what this all meant to me and to our current relationship. Big question. Small, yet explosive answer. He took me to Session Two of Game Changers where Graham Cooke quoted this short but so profound thought: When the enemy is present, you know that God is more present. When the enemy is present, God is teaching you about Majesty. We all have to learn Majesty. Just like that, the sentences end but the thought and its meaning exploded in my spirit. Majesty. I have quoted this aforementioned quote hundreds of times and read over it many more without questioning the one thing I didn’t fully understand: What is Majesty? If God is teaching me about this word so that I may use it in the presence of my enemy…what exactly is it?

You may have an idea of the definition of Majesty. I did too. But the Lord showed me something I needed to learn and use as a positional weapon. The thought dropped in my spirit that we cannot accurately see tomorrow through the eyes of our understanding today UNLESS we look through Majesty of Jesus. I got excited when I wrote this down. Instead of looking at the face value of a problem or conflict and wrestling with solutions…waiting on the Lord for His deliverance…binding the enemy and loosing the power of Heaven (all good things by the way), God was teaching me that one word—Majesty—will put me in a more advantageous position.

What is Majesty? Looking through the commentaries of the Bible, I came across this definition:

“Majesty refers to the incomparable greatness, supreme power, inherent glory, and awe-inspirit splendor of God (makes me weep as I write this). Majesty emphasizes His sovereign authority and divine nature which is evident in His creation and mighty acts, inspiring worship and reverence from us. Majesty encompasses His unassailable kingship, His transcendent nature, and His creative power highlighting Him as Supreme being worthy of all honor…”

Then it hit me. The distance from a problem and its solution is called “process.” It is within the “process” that the Majesty of God is waiting to be unveiled. God is showing us—don’t miss this!!—that the issue is never about the problem and rarely about the solution. It is always about the encounter of the Majesty of Jesus He wants to show us in the process. Rather than trying to escape a problem and leapfrog to the solution, God has new facets of His nature to show us…incomparable greatness, supreme power, inherent glory, and awe-inspiring splendor…sovereign authority, divine nature, unassailable kingship, creative power all directed to you, to me, so our eyes become fixed on Majesty, not on the temporary problem.

We may plan our way, but God directs every step. Instead of focusing upon the weight of the problem, turn your eyes to the weightiness of His glory, His splendor, His Majesty, and release your worship of honor to Him.

Your problem may never move, but you will…higher. Higher in your understanding of Majesty, knowing you are the only moving piece here as you move closer to His heart.

This month of Elul is about the King being in the field of your heart. Repentance, mercy, and forgiveness are available. It is time to fix the broken lens of seeing our problems as the main event and fix our eyes on the Majesty of Jesus. As we know, whatever we focus upon, we give power to. Not the best English, but the thought is captured. It’s time to take a dive into His Majesty and be refreshed and renewed. Rest in Him and His nature. Slow down. Don’t miss the encounters. These are our upgrades for victory every time. Majesty.
